It’s near impossible to keep up with new music these days. The democratising force of the Internet, the availability, prevalence and affordability of recording technology and the proliferation of hyperbolic music writers means that I am bombarded with new ‘incredible’ music every second of my waking life.
Very few of these tracks or artists are ever as good as they are hyped to be. Everything is on the Internet and everything is the newest, biggest and brightest thing except for the simple fact it is not. The following twenty tracks don’t feature on any of my albums of the year but are those individual moments of brilliance that have actually pricked the bubble of Internet bullshit. They are in no particular order. Enjoy.
